HARLOW v Gidea Park & Romford Cricket Club Saturday 2nd XI on Sat 29 Aug 2009 at 1pm
Gidea Park & Romford Cricket Club Won By 95 runs (20 points)
Match report
In a tight race for the second promotion spot this was a must win game for Park. After loosing the toss and being invited to bat first at Marigolds, Park put on a fine all round performance to secure maximum points in this season's penultimate fixture. Choudhary and Patel (33) got Park off to a fine start putting on 95 for the first wicket on a surface that was obviously going to take spin and offered assistance to the seamers with the new ball. Tarr (20), Evans (41) and Filmalter maintained the momentum and provided good support to Choudhary who finished with a fine century. Park closed on a respectable 244-5. Rudi Filmalter and debutant Jakk Carver bowled tightly at the start of the Harlow innings without reward for some fine bowling. With the introduction of spin from Wall and the medium pace variations of Choudhary (3-41) wickets started to fall at regular intervals. Zada (45 no) was the only batsman to show any resistance, and with the wicket turning sharply Patel (2-8) and Wall bowled their off spin in tandem to remove the middle order and tail to secure the win with overs to spare. Richard Wall finishing a fine spell with 5-51.
