Gidea Park & Romford Cricket Club Saturday 2nd XI v Ilford on Sat 24 Jul 2004 at 1.30pm
Gidea Park & Romford Cricket Club Won GP&R won by 4 wickets
Match report
The boys achieved their second successive win in another thriller. Ilford were asked to bat and batted in typical aggressive fashion. Malik stuck a stylish 67 not out and the dangerous Sagoo smashed a whirlwind 52 to enable a declaration at 255 for only 3 wickets with every batsman reaching the crease scoring usefully. The Gallows Corner pitch was flat and good and this targwt looked well in range. Our spirits were dampened with the loss of 4 wickets for only 46 runs and a run chase looked unlikely. In stepped Greg Churchill and Balvinder Kullar. They amassed a stand of 150 in authoritative style to put victory in sight. Sadly they were parted with Bal run out for 86. Greg folowed soon after and it was left to old hands Branty and Gordo to see us home for a much needed second win. Steve ended up with a belligerent 28 not out.
Keep up the good work boys.
