Gidea Park & Romford Cricket Club Lost Lost by 6 wickets
Match report
asked to bat first Park made a great start. Barry Hyam showing great form dominating one end whilst Hussain kept out the nagging Kandola. Barry going on to make 63 before unluckily playing on to Tauarasa having dominated an opening partnership of 93.Park lost 2 quick wickets, Redwood was run out shortly after for 2 and Hussain was bowled by Tavarasa for 27.The loss of 3 wickets set Park back and a rebuilding between Churchill and Davey added 55 before Davey was caught in the deep for 27. Collard and Churchill manouvered the ball about for a steady Partnership of 71 in 11 overs before Collard swung across the line and was bowled by Malk for 33. Churchill and Baker then added a fine 46 before Andy was also bowled by Malk for 73.Baker's 23 looked to have given Park th upper hand finishing on 280-6
Chopra and Diwan set about their total with a display of fine and disciplined bating display. Always playing straight and running extremely well, never allowing the Park bowling to settle and apply the consistent pressure needed to remove Ilfords advantage they started too build an amazinly formidable partnership. Both duely completed 100's before Chopra fell to Joshi for 104 caught by Collard after a partnership of 202. Ola was also caught by Collard in the deep off Churchill before Leigh davey had Diwan ct behind by Hyam for 111. Bob Curtis was ct & b by Davey but dispite a spirited performance in the field Park were finally beaten with 2 overs to spare by 6 wickets
