Gidea Park & Romford Cricket Club Saturday 2nd XI v HAROLD WOOD on Sat 21 Jun 2008 at 1PM
Match was Drawn
Match report
Another close fought game which could have gone either way ended in draw. Gidea PArk lost the toss, again, and were asked to bat. Despite the early loss of Thomas, Baker and Evans built a good partnership bfoe Evans was cought for an aggresive 55. The innings moved along steadily until some quick runs at the end saw park get up to 220-6 declared. Baker making another usefull contribution of 82.
Harold Woods innings was fairly unspectacular until the start of the last 20 overs, where they needed 120 runs with 7 wickets left. The opposition batsmen started to play some shots and with attcking fields runs began to flow more freely. With some tight spin bowling from Churchill, wickets also began to fall and with two overs left Harold Wood need 12 runs with four wickts left. An excellent penultimate over by Chouhan saw just two runs offit but two wickets fall. With Churchill taking a wicket with the first ball of the last over Park had 5 balls to take the last wicket with Harold Wood needing 10 more runs. After a dot ball and a 2, the batsmen decided 8 runs off three balls with only one wicket left was too much and played the last three balls out for a draw.
