Gidea Park & Romford Cricket Club Sunday 2nd X1 v SILVER TITANS on Sun 06 May 2007 at 2pm
Gidea Park & Romford Cricket Club Won by 7 Wickets
Match report
This was a good first match for an average GP&R Sunday 2nd Team, recording their a win at the first time of asking.
GP&R put the visitors in and some early wickets from self-proclaimed strike bowler Andy Goldsmith put the batsmen under pressure with three wickets. This was largely helped by a sparkling debut behind the stumps from Chris Goldsmith. A mesmerising (if slightly modest) display which included three catches, a stumping and two run-outs led some to claim they had seen a vision of a former Goldsmith wicket-keeper with additional athleticism. The rest of the wickets were shared throughout the team and there was a fine econmical debut performance from John Gregory (not the ex-Aston Villa manager).
In reply, Craig Bray got off to fluent start and helped himself to 26 before lofting a catch to the covers. Peter Collier then took over and guided Park to a well deserved victory with an unbeaten 57 against some reasonable bowling.
