Match report The Ilford Wanderers pitch was very slow and low and proved difficut for batsmen and bowlers alike all game, in the end being the difference between a Park win and a draw after a promising performance. Batting first it took a while for Jerry Trayler and Jas Chaggar to gauge the pace of the pitch but they stuck to their task and the stand was was worth 120 when they were parted having made an excellent platform for the team. Jas hit six fours in his 54 and Jerry 12 fours and two sixes in an inceasingly powerful innigs. The restof the order chipped in around Brijesh Patel who finished 46 not out and a total of 205 was a good [position from which Park could attack the Ardleigh Green batting.
Hafiz ali struck early, bowling Oakley for 0 amnd having Beduidenhout excellently caught by the diving Ammar Zahid. Another good catch by John Roberts made the score 45 for 3 but geoff Robinson proved obdurate taking two hours over 27 and with the bowling on target, the batsmen not ambitious and the pitch getting slower it was a lengthy war of attrition. The slow bowlers agged away and Dave Cobill took two wickets and Brij Patel took three, but the task of taking five in the last hour faded as the Green skipper Alex Surrey dug in for 31 and the match finished with Park well on top but having to settle for a draw. Another match played in excellent spirit by the two teams!
