Gidea Park & Romford Cricket Club Saturday 2nd XI v CHINGFORD on Sat 01 Sep 2007 at 12.30PM
Gidea Park & Romford Cricket Club Lost by 3 wickets
Match report
Put into bat, Park made a watchful start and lost their first wicket at 31. Capp continued his fine form with a well played 62, but 4 others got into double figures, but were unable to take this on. Only Goldstone, who made 27 was able to make a telling contribution. Park therefore closed on 171 all out in the last over of their 52. This was probably 30 runs short of a par score.
Chingford lost a wicket to Chouhan in the first over, but then Piper played positively and he scored a very brisk 50 and took the score to 64. Then Capp produced an excellent stumping off Chouhan to remove Piper and Chouhan then produced 2 inspired balls to complete a hat-trick. This opened a door for Park and they began to exert some pressure. But the run-rate was always kept around the 4 to 5 an over and Chingford did not panic.
Chouhan bowled excellently to return 6 for 57, but Chingford timed their chased well and made it home with 3 balls and 3 wickets to spare.
Park were leaving themselves to rue the fact that they just did not score enough runs.
