WICKFORD v Gidea Park & Romford Cricket Club Saturday 2nd XI on Sat 18 Aug 2007 at 12.30PM
Match was Drawn
Match report
Park 2's drew a keenly contested match with Wickford. Upon winning the toss, Park elected to bat and made a watchfull start where Wickford bowled tight lines and lengths. Kullar was the first to go with the score on 46 and Capp and Toogood continued steadily with a partnership of 86 before Toogood went. Capp completed a good 60, when he departed with Park on 146 for 3 with only 10 overs left. The momentum came through Collier who struck an excellent 62 in very quick time, allowing park to take 63 from the final 7 overs and Park closed on 221 for 7.
Wickford started in quick fashion and raced through to 70 for 0 off 15 overs. The openers continued a fine display of positive batting and reached 131 for 0 off 28 overs. Park did not allow their heads to drop and Brij Patel took the first wicket. This rallied Park and Patel and Berry bowled in partnership and from 131 for 0 reduced Wickford to 143 for 5 within a spell of 7 overs. This put the pressure on Wickford as the run rate increased and Park increased their tighthold. Wickford tried to keep with the rate but a further couple of wickets lossed, meant it was difficult to do so and had to settle for 209 for 8. Patel finshed with a fine 3 for 49 and Berry 4 for 54.
