WALTHAMSTOW v Gidea Park & Romford Cricket Club Saturday 2nd XI on Sat 04 Aug 2007 at 1PM
Match was Drawn
Match report
Park 2nd X1 followed up last weeks win with a draw against bottom club Walthamstow. Upon arriving, Park were greated with a very dry and uneven looking track and with a tiny boundary. This created uncertainty in what could happen. Fielding first, Park made an early breakthrough with Chouhan clean bowling the number 2 and then followed this up with a second. Stow then set themselves to be watchful of anything straight and throw their arms at anything up and wide. This was evident with their number 4 Kazmi hitting an effective 62 with some big shots. Park pulled it back towards the end of the Stow innings, but Stow were not bowled out until the 52 over and after they had made 234. Chouhan bowled excellently for 7 for 69 off 21.4 overs.
Park replied and got a good start, but got bogged down in the 70's and 80's, which put them behind the clock. This was crucial as they would only get back 42 overs in total and they needed to keep the pace up. Kullar batted well for 53, but as Park looked to up the pace, they found themselves at 141 for 6 with only 10 overs left. Patel and Goldstone batted well for a partnership of 38, but this was cut short when Goldstone was run out with a direct hit. Patel and Berry then saw GPR to max batting points for no further loss.
