BRENTWOOD v Gidea Park & Romford Cricket Club Saturday 2nd XI on Sat 05 May 2007 at 1PM
Gidea Park & Romford Cricket Club Won by 2 wickets
Match report
Gidea Park & Romford 2's won a close match on Saturday in a very pleasant match versus Brentwood 2's.
Park fielded first and Toogood and Gavigan were unlucky not to make a breakthrough in the first 14 overs. Without the breakthrough, Park looked like they could be chasing a substantial target as Brentwood batted well and posted 70 for no loss after the 14 overs. The bowling change came and this saw Andy Berry and Shu Choudhury bowl in tandem for 32 overs as they bowled tight line and lengths and made the Brentwood batsmen work hard. It was Berry who made the breakthrough and the pair continued to apply the prssure. Chand Chouhan nipped out 2 wickets coming on at the end. Brentwood declared on 198 for 7 from 50 overs
Park then set about the task extremely well with Choudhary and Toogood cashing in on anything loose from the bowlers. After Choudhary departed for 20, Toogood unfortunately had to leave the pitch with cramp and Whatling played an excellent knock of 66 to take Park close to their target. However, a quick couple of wickets and Toogood unable to return to the field, left Park to crawl over the line in the 40th and final over with Capp hitting the winning run.
