Gidea Park & Romford Cricket Club Saturday 1st XI v Harold Wood on Sun 25 Jun 2006 at 1.00
Gidea Park & Romford Cricket Club Lost Lost by 27 runs
Match report
Having elected to bat first, Harold Wood set about the Park bowling with Sohail and Mangalapally notching up 93 for the first wicket off 12 overs. Sohail was lbw to Collard. Goldstone trapped Mirza lbw for 8 before Filmalter finally had the prize wicket of Mangalapally well caught down the leg side by Swainland for 56. Hollingsworth escaped a dropped catch by Collard whilst still on 0 off the bowling of Shah and also a strong claim for a caught behind off Goldstone before going on to score a valuable 86 not out.Brabner scoring a steady 31 before falling to a run out. Singh went with out score falling to a catch by Shah off Churchill for 0. Goldstone claimed 2 more wickets and the Wood innings closed on 267-7 from 45 overs.
Unfortunately for Park they suffered further pain when it was deemed a slow over rate warranted a deduction in the return of overs and were only to receive 44 overs in return.
They lost Swainland for 8 before Collard and Churchill added 65. Churchill went for 35 and Filmalter followed next over with out score. Collard and Shah added 54 before Collard finally fell run out for 76. With the rate increasing Park made a bold effort to step up the rate. Kliber went for a quick fire 22 and Greg Churchill well caught and bowled by Brabner for 26. Wickets tumbled quickly and James Patient was the last man out run out for 5.
Park losing by 27 runs with the real damage done by the striking of Woods opening pair of Mangalapally and Sohail in the first 10 overs.
