Match report It was a pleasure to be playing after all the rain and cancelled matches and the pitch at Hockerill was slow but in good condition for this well fought friendly match. Park won the toss and elected to bat but lost Ian Greenwood yorked by the 2nd ball of the game and James Perera likewise a few runs later. Connor Donnelly put together a well judged and paced innings of 61(6 fours)before being unluckily bowled, but the only real support came from George Bryant with a breezy 19 before becoming the first of off spinner Cooper's 4 victims. Generally and not unexpectedly the batsmen got themselves out trying to be too ambitious for the slow conditions. In reply opener Jagdeo set off as if he wished to finish the game inside 10 overs, aggressively striking the ball for 32 (2 sixes, 4 fours), but he essayed one drive too many at Arun Kullar's slows and was caught at long on. The Park bowling led by skipper Andy Jenner was generally good and accurate and the longer the game went on the tighter it became, with good spells from new-boy Usman Maqbool and Ian Greenwood's off breaks having all the batsmen defending. Only 46 were needed with 7 wickets in hand off the last 20 overs but as the pressure mounted on the batsmen they perished trying something ambitious. Ian took three in four balls to record impressive figures of 5 for 9 off 12 overs, Usman returned at the end and a scrambled single won the game with the home side 8 down and three overs to spare. An enjoyable and well contested game by both sides!
