Match report Gidea Park travelled to chalkwell park for the 2nd time in 2 weeks to for this 50-over game, this trime against Westcliff. After a slight delay for rain Gidea Park won the toss and elected to bat on a dry crumbling wicket which surely would only get worse?! Early movement and inconsistent bounce throughtout the GPR innings meant scoring was often difficult and far from free flowing. A number of Park batsmen managed to get themselves in but failed to post a big individual score. Some lusty blows from Filmalter(38) and Collard(30*) see Park post what was thought to be a competitive total on an suspect wicket.

Park managed just 8 overs in the field before the heavens opened. A slight delay meant the Westcliff innings was to be reduced to 46 overs. A further dealy then reduced the game further to a 34 over game with the score of 178 being the victory target for Westcliff. The wicket seemed to flatten out after the rain break and with a wicket ball and a side full of spinners Park's bowler struggled to contain the Westcliff batsmen. Westcliff eventually reaching the target with 7 balls to spare for the loss of 3 wickets. Pratt unbeaten on a fine 104 was the hero for Westcliff.

A big thanks must be said to overseas player Vin Mane who sadly leaves us after this game, unfortunately it wasnt the send off we hoped for Vin.
