Match report Gidea Park fail to take the final wicket in a tense draw!

Having lost the toss GPR were asked to bat of a slightly damp wicket in overcast conditions. A watchful start to the innings saw runs accumulate at a steady pace in the face of accurate bowling from Horndon. Vin completed another fine half century as did Russ and contributions from all other batsmen meant park posted a challenging 217-5 from 52.

A strong start from Fretwell and Filmalter see early wickets fall. At 29-3 park were in the driving seat but a fine knock of 67 from overseas Nizami ensured Horndon were well up with the required rate going into the last 20 overs. A tight spell from Russ and Fretwell (3 wickets each) see the rate required rate steadily climb and wickets falling meant Park had 2 overs to get the final wicket. A flying edge dissected the 3 slips and gully with 2 balls to go and with that the game was drawn. Gidea come away with 12 points and climb to 4th in the table.
