Match report
In a game which ended in Park defeated for the first time in 29 games it was a game where some of the best batting to be seen in the Premier League was on full view.
Having chosen to bat first on what looked a wearing wicket Park were soon in control adding 75 for the first wicket before Mel Hussain was adjuged LBW to Fayyaz for 28 when looking in no trouble at all. Barry Hyam and Andy Churchill added another 70 before Hyam fell in the penultimate over before lunch to Zaigham for a fine 65.
At lunch Park were 145-2 and looking to score quickly after as ILford kept the pressure up with a quick over rate. Churchill and Davey put on a fine show adding what turned out to be 120 for the third wicket to allow Park to declare at the formidable total of 265-3. Churchill fell 8 short of a ton including 6-4s and a 6 and Davey reached his highest score in the league for Park 70 not out with 5-4s and 2-6s.
Well the wicket didnt get worse and batting looked easy at times after Leigh Davey had made the quick breakthrough removing both openers with the score on 29-2.
Some 240 runs later it was all over. Diwan made a fine 140 not out and Kendola 102 not out in a faultless partnership over 45 overs. Diwan 15-4s 1 6 and Kendola 11-4s.
Park in their effort to get a result managed to bowl 63 overs back at their host but it was not to be on a day we batted well bowled well and fielded well on a shocking outfiled but were out played by some fine batting.
