Gidea Park & Romford Cricket Club Evening Standard Challenge Trophy 1st XI v WINCHMORE HILL on Sun 19 Jun 2005 at
Gidea Park & Romford Cricket Club Lost
Match report
Park were eliminated from the evening standard challenge cup by Winchmore Hill, being beaten by 81 runs.
Bowling first Park again bowled well on a life less pitch. At 30 overs Winchmoe Hill had been restricted to 108-2 with a steady partnership and equally disciplined bowling the game was evenlly poised. Notable bowling spell from Andy Berry saw only 36 runs come from his allotted 10 overs, equally impressive was Chris Collier's display in the field. Winchmore Hill got away in the final 10 overs adding 65 to finish 245-6 after some lusty late blows from Frank Griffith 22. A dogged 69 from Robertson being the main contributor for Hill.
Park started brightly enough with Barry Hyam and Luke Baker adding 40 in 10 overs before Luke was caught behind for 14. Barry was bowled went 35 and Chris swainland caught for 5, then Leigh Davey went for 5 caught at mid off. Andy Churchill set about repairing the innings. Andy and Chris adding 49 before Churchill was run out for 40 with the score on 114 in the 35th over.On a slow lifeless pitch the run rate had escalated Russ Collard was caught for 16 Phil Goldstone caught for 8 trying to boost the rate but all to no avail.Khan and Berry both out without scoring and the last wicket to fall Chris Collier for 40.
A disappointing day finally losing by 81 runs
