Match report Park had to make late changes in personnel for this top of the table clash and wee short of both batting and bowling, the result being that they were well beaten by a Chelmsford side who were superior in all departments. On an up and down pitch Chelmsford were aggressive from the start but an excellent opening spell by Shazhd Jabar saw him clean out two players and a good catch by George Bryant off Rajesh Kanojia accounted for a thrid wicket at 60 for 3. Jabar was rested after 11 overs but thereafter Frank Kyan and Sam Hollingsworth despatched all bad balls for 4 and were very severe on the change bowlers, the latter in particular hitting some fine shots as the runs piled up. Jabar returned to take the wicket of Kyan for a well played 54 and he immediately bowled the new batsman as Park sniffed a chance to get back into the game. however, a simple catch ws put down off Hollingsworth and he proceeded to dominate and plunder the bowling. The declaration came as he completed his maiden century for Chelmsford and Park faced a big total in the conditions of 235 to win. Jabar finished with excellent figures of 4 for 49 off 16.4 overs and Kanojia 2 for 73. The reply was brisk as Ammar Zahid continued his good form with the bat and makeshift opener Jabar chipped in but the latter was well held at short leg with the score on 37. Two more wickets went quickly 61 for 3, but Rajesh Kanojia began in attacking mode and with Zahid looking good the score quickly advanced. It was a surpirise when Ammar was caught at slip for a very good 39 (7 fours, 1 six) and thereafter wickets tumbled at regular intervals as the innings subsided to 106 for 8 in the face of accurate seam bowling from Fergus and Bailey. Raj continued to hit out and a batting point was claimed before he was left stranded on 62 not out (7 fours 2 huge sixes) as Park ended well short on 146 all out. Fergus was rewarded for a good spell with 5 for 58 off 16 overs and Bailey 3 for 34 off 8 overs. This was only Park's second defeat of the season and they are still well in contention despite this result. Next week Wickford 4ths at home.
