Match report Park were missing five regulars for this match against old rivals Wanstead but on a hot day and an excellent pitch with some bounce and carry at Fairlop Oak they made light of this with a good all round team performance to record an eight wicket win. From the outset Park's young attack of Waleed Wain (back from uni)and 14 year old Mueez Qureshi bowled good lines and to their field. A quick outfield and a short boundary one side meant the scoreboard ticked over but never above 3 an over and at the half way stage the score was only 74. Dave Mead was lbw to Ian Greenwood's off spin for 30 and three more wickets went down in quick succession, two to Michael Ryder'S off spin in one over, one to a good running catch by Mueez Qureshi running in from deep square leg and the other to a sharp slip catch by Mughir Qureshi. Both spinners bowled well mid innings and the returning Wain and Qureshi accounted for the lower order as Wanstead were bolwed out in 50 overs for a below par 177. Young opener Barny Mead carried his bat for 85, an innings full of application and concentration; the attack shared the wickets, Wain finished with 3 for 48, Qureshi 2 for 28 and Ryder 2 for 33. The Park reply began well against an enthusiastic attack and Ian Greenwood played some rousing cuts and ammar Zahid calmly collected singles. The pair were relatively untroubled after the opening overs and added 60 before Greenwood was bowled for 42. Ammar and Waleed Wain then proceeded to add 94 for the second wicket, suffering few alarms as Wanstead rang the bowling changes tomtry and get a breakthrough. Waleed struck 5 fours and 3 sixes in a well paced 54 not out and Ammar 6 fours as he maintained his good form and kept the strike rotating. He was out for 45 just before the 8 wicket win was achieved. This was an excellent display by Park as they bounced back from a trouncing last week by West Essex and leaves them nicely placed after 9 matches (but there is a long way to go yet!). Next week it is Southend on Sea & EMT at home.
