HUTTON v Gidea Park & Romford Cricket Club Saturday 4th XI on Sat 02 Jul 2005 at 1.30pm
Gidea Park & Romford Cricket Club Won 6 wickets
Match report
Another pleasing win for Park as they continue to press Brentwood at the top of the league, however, Gidea Park did this the hard way after giving away 55 extras resulting in a long first innings as a 52 extra balls were bowled due to wides and no balls. There was a pleasing return to bowling from Andrew Jenner who's first bowl of the season finished after nine overs with one wicket at a cost of only six runs. Durvinder Bhogal also bowled tightly; he and Louis Stuckey each collecting three wickets with the later taking 2 in the final over.
The batting response was confident with Steve McCormack and Sam Bragg compiling a partnership of 102, and scoring 46 and 48 respectively. Thereafter, Danny Cox steered the side home with 46 not out after Chris Webber had added a rapid 82 before falling with victory still 12 runs away. There were tense moments thereafter as Jenner was removed for only two but Peter Thain stood strong at one end whilst Cox dispatched the winning runs from the other with 4 balls to spare.
Park will need to play better than this if they are to maintain their league position and will need to reduce the extras. Hutton seemed a side much stronger than their lowly league position would reflect and played a fair part in a good game.
