Gidea Park & Romford Cricket Club Saturday 4th XI v UPMINSTER on Sat 11 Jun 2005 at 1.30pm
Gidea Park & Romford Cricket Club Won 2 wickets
Match report
The day started well for Gidea Park who having won the toss, opted to field and were treated toa bowling masterclass from seamer Nicky Ford whose 21 over spell more than deserved the six wickets that it garnered. In addition, Durvinder Bhogal chipped in with another 3 wickets on the way to dismissing Upmister for 163. Park were pleased to have completed their allocation by 4:07, yet they would have been off sooner had it not been for determined resistance from Upminster's last pair, P. Cully and A. Limn who added 21 each before Ford closed the innings.
The response began aggressively with Kersaw and Mayne adding 29 and 27 respectively before both being caught out playing attacking shots. Thereafter, the batting was pretty flimsy despite a strong looking line up, and Park were left thanking Andrew Jenner for a sensible, match-winning 58 not out without which it is very likely that Upminster would have taken 20 points.
Next up are Walthamstow; Park will be keen to extend a promisimg start to the season.
