FIVES & HERONIANS v Gidea Park & Romford Cricket Club Saturday 2nd XI on Sat 03 Sep 2005 at 1pm
Gidea Park & Romford Cricket Club Lost 34 runs

Match report A disappointing defeat having got into a winning position and one which condemns the 2nd XI to relegation for the first time. Choosing to bowl first, Park took two early wickets with with opening pair Toogood and Gavigan but Fives third wicket dug in and put on 110 despite good spells from Wall, Gordon and Croft. On a small, fast scoring ground and a good wicket it proved difficult to stem the runs and a late push from Fives lower order toook them to 284-8.

Park lost two early wickets themselves but Churchill and Kliber put together a partnership which gave Park a chance to chase the total. After losing Kliber and a couple of more quick wickets, skipper Brant and Churchill took Park to within 50 runs of their target with 10 overs and 5 wickets remaining. However Brant's wicket triggered a collapse of the tail as the next 4 wickets went for less than 20 runs leaving Churchill stranded on 90.
