Gidea Park & Romford Cricket Club Saturday 2nd XI v BRENTWOOD on Sat 04 Jun 2005 at 1.30pm
Gidea Park & Romford Cricket Club Won 2 wickets
Match report
Electing to bowl first, GP&R started well with an aggressive spell from Ryan Sammons but having weathered the early storm Brentwood's batsmen began to get on top and scored at a brisk rate. Good fielding and several excellent catches helped get Park back in the game but a late runs from the tail took Brentwood up to a formidable 255 for 7 from their 52 overs.
In reply, the early wicket of Balvinder Kullar brought James Patient to the wicket and he proceeded to dominate the scoring with a hard hit 82 scored in quick time. With Andy D'Cruz supporting one end, Park had wickets in hand going into the last hour. Several important stands in the middle order and excellent running between the wickets kept the win a possibility, Jack Kliber impressing with fluent 48 until an unfortunate run out. With Park now looking favorites, several quick wickets put the game back in the balance with a run a ball required and only two wickets in hand. All worries were soon dispelled as Rudi Filmalter blasted 22 from one over, including two huge sixes, to win with an over to spare, completing a impressive run chase and giving Park their first win of the campaign.
