Match report A great start for Park as they reduced their hosts to 22-4. Waheed Khan continuing his fine form with 2 wickets and Rhett Fielke claiming 1 and Chris Gladwin comfortably run out going for a third . Naveed and Wright started to rebuild their innings and as the wicket flattened out the runs started to flow.At lunch Wickford were 113-4 off 44 overs. Wright was LBW to Collard straight after lunch for a graffted 28 and Wickford were 126-5. Goddard came in and took the game to Park with some lusty blows aquiring a rapid 56 and helped Naveed cruise to his 100. Naveed was out for a fine patient 107 bowled by Khan and with Fielke removing J Wright for 0 Park still looked like they would keep their hosts to a below par score but Brendon Smith came in and hit a fine 22 not out to help Wickford to 240-7.
Park had a good start putting on 60 for the first wicket before Baker was out for 33 bowled by Naveed. Churchill was bowled by Smith 7 runs later for 2.Barry Hyam and Leigh Davey then put on a patient 84. Park lost Hyam for 68 to Bate stumped down the leg side, Collard 3, Collier 2 and Swainland 6 all went cheaply and at the wrong time as Park lost 5 wickets for 47 runs in 12 overs Wickford could sense a sniff of victory. There fielding stepped up a gear and they caught anything that left the ground and the game started to turn towards them.Davey and Fielke then played sensibly but Smith bowled Davey for 60. Phil Goldstone added a rapid 11 as the rate increased and Khan was run out for 4 leaving Ryan Sammons to face 1 ball of the penultimate over with 10 needed to win. With 10 off the last over and with 6 men guarding the short near side boundary and 3 guarding the leg side it was a step to far without exposing Sammons to the final over from Smith leaving Park to settle for a draw in a game which Wickford battled hard and Park really should have won.
