Week 5 of league season
06 Jun 2011
On a sunny Saturday we had a successful day with the 1sts, 2nds, 3rds and 5ths all winning and the 4ths drawing. The 1sts opened their account with a 5 run success in the limited overs 50/50 against neighbours Harold Wood, skipper Russell Collard with 95 and Will Cooper with 63 the principals in posting the total. The 2nds also beat their Harold Wood counterparts through batting first with James Patient 52 and Jeff Thomas 62 and Umer Mustafa 7 for 54 in a 24 run win. The 3rds went to reigning champions Chelmsford and chased down 248 to win by 6 wickets, captain Craig Bray 55 and Wayne Henry 66 leading the way. The 4ths were understrength but came away with a draw, Ammar Zahid notching 78, and the 5ths won batting first on the astro at Coopers School against Upminster 6th by 66 runs, Sanjay Panwar with 55 and skipper Andy Jenner with 4 for 24. On Sunday in the rain a young side lost by 8 wickets to Hornchurch in the Dukes Essex T20 group match, with good performances from Chris Collier 58 and James Pegram 51 not out as they posted 183.
