Gidea Park & Romford Cricket Club Sunday A XI v EASTSIDE on Sun 26 Jul 2009 at 2pm
Gidea Park & Romford Cricket Club Lost BY 2 WICKETS
Match report
On an exciting day at Gallows watched by 3 people Gidea Park fell to a narrow defeat in this 40 over clash with Eastside. Evans and Kingston opened the batting on a pitch which they were seen running around naked 12 hours before. Kingston still suffering the effects of last nights barbeque in his honour fell first ball to a horrendous shot and trudged back to the pavillion this time with his clothes on. Evans (76) batted fluently although also struggling from previous nights alcohol intake. Good support was provided from Lalam (55) and captain Sutton (54) some lusty blows in his Poppeye t-shirt after eating 5 hamburgers the night before. Good hitting form Lamb (15 n.o) and Mckie (25 n.o) pushed the score to 246-5 from our 40 overs.
Eastside hit the grund running and were 100-0 off 15 then some wickets bought us into the game. A superb one handed diving catch down leg-side by stand-in wicketkeeper Evans swung the game in Parks favour, however the 25 byes previously conceeded did not help. Eastside required 8 from the last over and won with 2 balls to spare, Kingston marking his farewell game with 3-35.
All in all the crowd were entertained everyone had a good game and no-one ran around the pitch naked.
P.s good bye Sean Kingston, hope you can come back next year.
