Gidea Park & Romford Cricket Club Won by 10 runs
Match report
Park recorded a fine 9 run victory in the 1st round of the Club Cricket Conference cup at Gallows Corner against Saffron Walden.
Chosing to bat first Park were soon 33-3 losing Collard 13, Tauseef 12 and Aslam 0.Mauzzim Ali and young Brian Kulasena set about rebuilding the innings and put on a fine 64 run partnership. Kulasena went for 28 and Ali followed shortly after for a fine 49. James Evans 19, Rudi Filmalter 20, and Brijesh Patel 20 all helped contribute to Parks 198 all out. Larsen finishing with 4-44 and both Parmenter and Sparrow finishing with 2 wickets a piece.
Saffron walden were looking well set to gallop to victory with Parmanter and George looking in sharp form. Moazzim Ali removing Parmenter for 32 and the door was opened for Park putting on 78 in 14 overs. Bowling and fielding slowly turned the pressure around and Park removed Mordini for 2 being bowled by Aslam who was producing a very tight spell. Aided by some fine bowling from Ejaz Khan Park picked up the wickets of Price 11 and Ecclestone for 16. Aslam finished his spell with 3-19 from his 9 overs. Miller , Collard and Kingston were left to bowl out the overs with Saffron needing 4 an over. Collard removed Coote, stumped by Tauseef, Montague, bowled, and Wiseby caught and bowled in a fine spell and with Kingston picking up 2 wickets Saffron were left needing 18 from the last over. Collard bowling out the last conceeding only 9 runs giving Park a well earned victory by 10 runs.
