Gidea Park & Romford Cricket Club Saturday 4th XI v SOUTHEND ON SEA 3RD on Sat 04 Jul 2009 at 1pm
Gidea Park & Romford Cricket Club Won 8 wickets 18 points
Match report
THE MORNING AFTER the prom for young spinner Mr Mckie brought a game against those from Southend on Sea. The Park boys lost the toss and were asked to field. An EPIC performance from Kier Smith brought little early reward but Harry Gray popped up from the other end to remove the opener, with Mr Mckie taking a superb catch at gully.
James Pegram then removed the next Southend Bat, knocking back his off stump. Then FROM OUT OF NOWHERE Aaron produced a display of bowling that was his best of the season. Two wickets in his first over and the Southend Innings was FALLING TO PIECES.
A rally in the batting saw some big shots played and Park lost the plot a little in the field. Aaron continued to plug away and took another wicket but to sturdy WAR PIGS of Southend made it past 100. Dave Pasola and Matthew Brett combined to run out another and Baljit Jutla picked up the half centurian.
Aaron then came back into the attack up the hill and removed another two taking a five for. Kier finished it off to make ammends for for a horrific dropped catch. But by this point the Park side had conceeded 166. About 60 more than should have been.
Ashu "I can spin it" Dabhi opened the batting with Sam Davies. Sam notched up 11 before being adjudged Leg before which sent Pasola out to join Ashu. Ashu powered his way to a good fifty, reaching the milestone with straight six to THE EDGE OF THE WORLD. Southend were fielding like ZOMBIE EATERS and Pasola made fifty as he was dropped at long on and the ball rolled over the line. Southend's fielding was not good, dropping Pasola 5 times and Chris Lamb 3 times as he hit the winning four on his way to 32 not, Pasola 53 not out.
So to the after game festivities, those who didn't bat went have a knock about in the nets, i went to the bar with Kier.
SURPRISE! YOUR DEAD! has been incredibly hard to work into the report so has UNDERWATER LOVE. However this 1989 album was a classic, well ahead of its time.
