Match report GP&R fours took on Benfleet 3's in their first league game of the season, with a much different side to previous seasons. A younger side of 13's 14's 15's and 16's was joined by experience in Collier, Hewitt M and Pasola, quality in Dan Rees and smoking in the form of Cobs.

The toss gave the usual result of losing and being put into the field on what looked like a good pitch for batting. Benfleet started slowly, good lines from Aaron and pace from Dan ensured that the benfleet batsmen struggled.

Aaron plugged away and eventually forced an error from the opener when Sam Farrow caught a steepling catch. Park plugged away and the Pete Collier took the second wicket when Aaron took a catch at deep square leg.

Chris Mckie bowled well and deserved better and Sam Hewitt showed what a fine cricketer he can become. Both deserved their wickets. Cob bowled seven overs for 18 runs, he also bowled 2 overs for 40!!

Benfleet amassed 216 which looked under par on the wicket provided, but Park would need three or four good contributions.

Early wickets fell, Pete got bowled, Mathew Brett batted well, after a long stint keeping first. Danny Made 26, Sam got a 0 but showed good committment all day with the fielding and enthusiasm. Pasola 10 and at 74 -5 Park were in trouble.

Aaron and Chris then showed they can bat as well. Aaron made 20, but during that time, the two u16's gave Park the chance of victory. Unfortunately after Aaron fell, soon Andy Jones went as well and Park needed Mckie and Sam Hewitt to block out the last 9 overs, which they did superbly. Chris Mckie earning the aclaim with an unbeaten 68. Sam finish 13 not out.

Afterwards MOM went to Chris Mckie. Captains Award went to Aaron Hughes for his bowling and maturity when batting. And Prat of the match went to the skipper, 3 dropped catches, sending the 11th player away because he forgot who was playing, and managing to get caught of a leg stump full toss, at gully. Thank god I didn't bowl ah Cobs!!
