Gidea Park & Romford Cricket Club Sunday 3rd X1 v Aztecs 3rd XI on Sun 06 Jun 2004 at 2pm
Gidea Park & Romford Cricket Club Won 7 wickets
Match report
Aztecs batted first and sought to attack from the start. Billy Payne made the breakthrough and got the aggresseive opener out well caught by Bob Coombe at Mid off. Park took regular wickets but Aztecs still scored well. The bowlers stuck well to their task and special mention ought to be given to Edward Gavigan making his debut who bowled aggresively and economically to finish with 5-2-8-1. Mark D'cruz picket up 2 wickets for just 13 runs. There was great bowling by Danny Coombe and Jack Kliber at the death to make sure Aztecs were bowled out. Danny bowled 3 overs for 13 and 2 wickets and Jack Kliber bowled 6-0-43-3.
Parks reply started well with the continued good form of Matt Tarr who hit a quickfire 30. Billy Payne was looking good before getting bowled but then Andy D'cruz(80*) and Jack Kliber(40*) batted through to take Park to victory. It was a great performance by these two batsman who played with great skill and maturity amidst some unpleasant "banter" from the opposition. In the end they took Park to victory with 3 overs and 7 wickets to spare
