Gidea Park & Romford Cricket Club Sunday 3rd X1 v Hornchurch on Sun 20 Jun 2004 at 2.00pm
Gidea Park & Romford Cricket Club Won 8 wickets
Match report
Hornchurch were put in to bar and got off to a good start before Danny Coombe had opener Bones caought at square leg for 12. Park kept plugging away and wickets fell quite regulary. Andy Jenner bowled well and dismissed the other Hormchusch opener Newland for 34. Off spinners Cobill and Osbourne both took two wickets and both were helped by great catches in the outfield by Bob Coombe. Special mention ought to be given to Eddie Gavigan who bowled 6 overs for just 13 runs and was unlucky not to get wickets. Jack Kliber picked up two well deserved wickets at the end to finish on 8-0-25-2. Not bad for a wicket-keeper!!!
Park started well with Matt Tarr and Bob Coombe putting on 42 for the first wicket. Ex Park player Stuart Harper Horn bowled with some pace but lacked control and went for 47 off his 8 overs. He did however get opener Tarr with a great Caught and Bowled.
Doug Shewring winkled out othe Opener Bob Coombe but that was the last wicket to fall as Veteran Ron Montogmery steered Park to victory with an unbroken 3rd wicket partnership of 150 with Jack Kilber who scored a magnificant 70 not out. It was an innings of maturity and skill. Jack took the time to play himself in and then some big shots ensued. Well done Jack!!!. Ron finished on 42 not out.
