Gidea Park & Romford Cricket Club Saturday 4th XI v Upminster on Sat 28 Aug 2004 at 1.00pm
Gidea Park & Romford Cricket Club Won 4 wickets
Match report
Park batted first and put Upminster in on a slow pitch. Mark D'cruz got the Upminster opener out to give Park a great start but then Upminster put on 88 for the second wicket with Murphy and Cully batting carefully while punishing the bad ball. Unfortunatley Upminster couldn't build on this start and when the Park opening bowlers returned Upminster collapased from 89-2 to 130 all out with Adam Locke bolwing with some hostility in his second spell of 6 overs to pick up 3 wickets for just nine runs.
Parks reply was cautious as the wicket was still slow and difficult and the Upminster opening bowlers of Ryan and Staples were difficult to get away. Park built around a solid 34 from Ron Montogomery but there was still plenty of work to be done at 74-4 but Darvinda Bhogal rode his luck to hit a quickfire 41 (inc. 4 sixes). Anil Patel guided Park home with a solid 19no which included two sixes.
All to play for next week against Hutton although we will be looking for Upminster to get something out of their game with Walthamstow to help us in our efforts to win the League.
