Gidea Park & Romford Cricket Club Saturday 1st XI v Hainault & Clayhall on Sat 31 Jul 2004 at 11.30am

Match report
A hard fought match which saw Park to a well earnt draw.
Having lost the toss yet again park were asked to bat and were soon 51-3 against some tight and disciplined bowling from Bopara and Ismail. Mel Hussain and Andy Churchill set about rebuilding the innings and produced a great partnership of 139. A partnership full of expwereience was needed to get Park to a position to press on. Unfortunately Park lost Churchill and Hussain in quick succession. The runs became harder to come by as the ball became very soft and with the experience of Bopara and his ability to mix his pace so well runs became almost impossible to come by his end. With the field set deep and the ball with no pace off the wicket Ameds slow leg spin proved almost as equally hard to manouvre around. Chris Collier scored a steady and valuable 32 and with ramesh adding 12 Park had to settle for 239 a total which was alittle below par.
Park responded to the task having Bopara caught at first slip for only 4 off Davey. Ahmed and Ismail then produced a fine partnership of 160.Park fought valiantly to peg back the Hainault innings with fine bowling from Churchill and Collard but it was Leigh Davey and Mel Hussain and some fantastic efforts in the field by all concerned saw Park apply the pressure and wickets began to tumble. Davey finishing with 5-74 from 16 overs and Hussain 1-71 from 17 overs.
A great effort by all concerned
