Gidea Park & Romford Cricket Club Under 16's v Hockerhill on Sun 18 Jul 2004 at 2pm
Gidea Park & Romford Cricket Club Won 8 wickets
Match report
This excellent victory was built on the back of Parks best bowling performance of this years Matchplay campaign.
Jason Toogood opened with 4 maidens in his first 5 overs and was unlucky that a couple of difficult chances off flying edges were not caught. U15s Ravi Rajanii and Edward Gavigan then both put in tight spells. Park were keeping the opposition very quiet but without taking wickets.
Legspinner Andy D'cruz then took the first wicket but the real star of the show was Peter Collier who bowled 7 overs and got 4wickets. Peter bowled with great maturity and was unconcerned when the opposition tried to hit him. The way he varied his pace was quite outstanding. . Danny Coombe was also very difficukt to get away and bolwed his 4 overs for just 5 runs and a wicket.
Even Tom kershaw got in the act to take a wicket before Jason Toogood took out the tail hitting the stumps 3 times in 5 balls.
Parks openers set about the Hockerill total carefully while making good progress. Andy D'cruz was first out trying to up the scoring rate for 28. Skipper Craig Bray was excellent especially severe with anything short outside the offstump. Craig hit a fine 50 that nearly saw his team home. Matt Tarr looked in fine nick with some wonderfully timed shots in a stylish 34 not out.
A good victory sealed with 6.3 overs still to go. Well done boys!! Also note we bowled 19 wides and 1 NB compared to the oppo who bowled 1 of each. Giving away this amount of extras will be fatal in close games
Parks spinners really turned the game. Andy D'cruz picked up
