Gidea Park & Romford Cricket Club Sunday 3rd X1 v Kingfisher on Sun 09 Jun 2002 at 2pm
Match was Drawn Match Abandoned as a draw
Match report
This was a really good performance by a young team lead by the vastly experienced Dave "Ozzy" Osbourne. The oppo won the toss and decided to bat. They were frustrated by excellent opening bowling from Ryan Sammons and Jonathon Roberts both of whom got a wicket and stuck to the task well especially as we had to come off for rain at least three times. Kingfisher put on 32 for the first wicket but then the wheels came off their innings. Jason Toogood to a couple of wickets to add to the two taken by the opening bowlers and then Gary Coombe came on to bowl!! Six overs later he had taken 4 wickets for just 13 runs a top class performance that was aided by a superb slip catch by Captain Oz. Andy D'cruz came on to get a couple of wickets at the end and Park could be well pleased with their performance bowling out Kingfisher for 66. Rain during tea ensured that Park never got a chance to knock the runs off but a great effort lads in terrible conditions. There was some talk at the end of Daddy Coombe buying a jug to celebrate his son's 4-fer but alas Bobby boy slipped off home to "tidy up"!!!!!
