Gidea Park & Romford Cricket Club Sunday A v HORNCHURCH ATHLETIC 2ND on Sun 03 Aug 2008 at 2PM
Match was Abandoned Rain stopped play
Match report
Having won the toss, Sutton elected to bat, having agreed to play a timed match. HACC bowled pretty well to begin with, and held a good line & length for the first 24overs bowled. Rain stopped play for 50mins, and Park went out again with both opening batsmen CM (42) and PC (38). Whist tea was being consumed, both skippers agreed to play 30overs each, so we could make a game of it. CM unfortunately got caught behind of Hutchinson still on 42, and in came Tom Kershaw with the instructions from Sutton to hit out. TK had a good crack first ball, but unluckily got caught at a deep mid-off. This brought the in-form Sutton to the crease, with Pete Collier still at the other end on 38, having played some decent strokes, only managed four more runs before he played-on. At the crease were Sutton and Lamb, who both were capable of getting quick runs, and that they did. With 4.3 overs left, Sutton and Lamb went for it, and took Park to 147 off the remaining 6overs, having only been on 78 when rain stopped play at 24overs. Sutton managed 48* off 19balls and Lamb 10* off 8balls. Those who batted played well according to situation. Well done boys :D
After the Park innings, we decided that we would try and demonstrate fierce bowling with our colts attack. Carver and Hughes opening up did very well with a wet and worn ball. Jakk took 2wickets in his first over, and Aaron took only the one even though he looked like the more likey to get a break-through. Next was Harry Gray, having been given the ball, he was under pressure straight-away on the follow-up from the opening duo. He struck with one wicket that took the off-stump cart-wheeling and was a good sight to see! Adam McKie came on from the other end, with economical figures and was unlucky on sveral occasions to not claim victims. Also there was a good run-out which obviously involved confusion between the batting pair of HACC.
Thanks for playng lads and well done.:D
