HUTTON v Gidea Park & Romford Cricket Club Saturday 3rd XI on Sat 14 Jun 2008 at 1PM
Gidea Park & Romford Cricket Club Won by 10 wkts
Match report
Park completed a comprehensive 10 wicket win against bottom club Hutton. Batting first Hutton were blown away by a great display of seam bowling from Keir Smith and backed up by the evergreen Paul Winmill, the former recording outstanding figures of 12.2 overs 1 maiden 23 runs 7 wickets. Hutton started brightly and in aggressive fashion, racing to 29 inside 6 overs before losing their first wicket as Smith bowled Moray. Winmill then accounted for Huttons other opener as a flashing cut was held by Tom Montgomery in the midrift at gulley. At 51 for 2 there was little sign of an imminent collapse but the next 6 wickets went down for 23 runs in the next 10 overs. Richard Wall chipped in with one wicket and with a good fielding display where seven catches were taken, Hutton were reeling at 74 for 8. Number 10 Cochrane then went for his shots to push the score up to 95 but the return of Keir Smith quickly finished the innings as he hit the stumps twice to leave Hutton all out for 96.
Park's openers Greg Churchill and Ron Montgomery had an hour to bat before tea and began in watchful fashion as the Hutton opening attack swung the ball around making runs hard to come by. However after the tea break and with a change in the bowling, runs began to flow with 72 coming in boundaries as the winning runs came up in the 28th over. Greg Churchill finished 52 not out and Ron Montgomery 45 not out to seal a win that keeps Park well in touch in a very close division.
Next week we entertain Brentwood 3rds at home.
