Gidea Park & Romford Cricket Club Saturday 1st XI v ARDLEIGH GREEN on Sat 16 Aug 2008 at 11AM
Gidea Park & Romford Cricket Club Won by 5 wickets 20 points

Match report A fantastic all round performance saw Gidea Park beat local neighbours Ardleigh Green, completing the double and in effect remove them as title challengers.
Searching for the 25 points needed to help chase down Wanstead Green opted to bat first. Donovan Miller and Haris Afridi removed both openers for 22. Former Park player Anand Krishnan and captain Roy Smith began rebuilding and were in total control as Park had to go on the defensive and had to be patient.Fine fielding and disciplined bowling saw Park apply a break on the flood of runs. A partnership of 95 was broken when Ali Aslam removed Krishnan well caught by Hyam off a skier with one big shot to many. Ejaz Khan in fine form had Jon Powell trapped lbw for 5. The prize wicket of Smith 67 came when Aslam had him well caught by stand in keeper Chowdhury. Park siezed total control and Green had no answer. With Khan making runs a premium Aslam removed Srinivasan immediately after lunch and impressive Alex Cason was well caught for 18 by Hyam at slip. Veteran Micheal Clarke failed to trouble the scorers as he was plum lbw to Aslam. Mudaligue was caught by Evans with a rash shot off Khan for 4. Aslam removed Wyatt for 0 again caught by Hyam.
Green having been in total control at 117-2 from 20 overs were bowled out for 180 in the 50th over losing their last 8 wickets for 63 runs as Park siezed control of the game . Ali Aslam taking 6-56 from 18 overs.
Park lost Hyam for 8 to Krishan but fine batting by Ali Aslam 52 and Haris Afridi 23 saw a stand of 71 in 13 overs. Aslam was bowled by impressive Ricky Gill for 52 and immediately he removed Shallow for 0 lbw. Worse was to come as Afridi followed without addition and Park were faltering at 87-4 losing 3 wickets for 0 runs. Russ Collard and Chou Chowdhary set about rebuilding as Green sensed an opportunity to take the game. Stubborn resistance and some impressive flare from Chowdhary started to silence Greens close fielder's humourous sledging. Chowdhary was removed by Gill for 28. With 57 still required James Evans joined Collard at the crease. No further chances were forthcoming to Green despite some desperate appealing. Collard driving the winning runs for 4 off Krishnan finishing on 36 not out and a fine innings from James Evans finishing on 28 not out saw Park home with a well deserved victory having beaten Green in all areas and keeping Park in the hunt for runners up.
