Match report 8-man Gidea Park & Romford faced a full strength Hornchurch side on Sunday. Under overcast skies, Hornchurch won the toss at their home ground and inserted GP&R. After a good start with skipper Adam leading from the front with the bat (and later the ball), tight bowling and excellent fielding from the home side slowed the scoring rate down. Alex, Connor, Henry and Max each contributed, demonstrating reluctance to give their wickets away. After 20 overs, GP&R finished on 46-6.
Gidea Park & Romford went about defending their total with great commitment. Despite being 2 men down in the field, the way team bowled tightly and everyone gave 100%. James and Simon gave little signs of nerves when they bowled, yet it came down to the final over of the match, bowled by Robbie who took a wicket with the last ball of the game earning GP&R a well-earned victory.
