Match report Gidea Park made the short journey to Hutton for the first round of the league
cup. The first competitive game for the Saturday 1st XI and first for debutant
overseas Bhavin Thakkar. Once again Gidea Park lost this toss and were asked to
field by Hutton.

Excellent opening spells by the young speedster Hewitt and hoop specialist
Filmalter reduced the Hutton batsmen to less than 2 an over. Good work was
continued by Thakkar who quickly picked up his maiden club wicket and Khan with
Mckie also rattling through 8 overs inbetween the hail stone break. Park bowling
out Hutton for 95 in the 40th over. Filmalter pick of the bowlers with 4 wickets
, one thanks to an excellent catch by glove man Maynard. 2 a piece for Khan and
Thakkar and 1 each for Mckie and Hewitt. Skipper Collier going down like he 'd
been shot with a busted ankle who now looks to be sidelined for a while.

Parks response began with the early loss of Thakkar who picked out mid wicket
from a full toss. Hewitt batted positively for a run a ball 27. Tarr was also
batting nicely with 27 before drilling a wide one to cover. Collard and Maynard
see Park home in the 22nd over, 99-3.

Park welcome Southend this coming Saturday in the 2nd round.
