Gidea Park & Romford Cricket Club Saturday 1st XI v Colchester & east Essex on Sat 24 Aug 2002 at 11am
Gidea Park & Romford Cricket Club Won Won by 6 wickets
Match report
A fin e all round disciplined performance by Park keeps them top by 11 points. After winning the toss and asking the oppo to bat park found taking the first wicket hard as the two openers added 74 for the first wicket. Dreyer Montgomery and Collard all failed to make any impact into the order. Andy Churchill finally had Ivulich caught by Collard at slip and then the defence was broken as Hussain and Churchill really tightened the screw bowling 36 overs 18 maidens 55 runs for 10 wickets. Parks catching was top drawer as Batch Montgomery Whatling and Redwood all held fine catches.Colchesters last 9 wickets falling for only 39 runs as they were finally dismissed for 113 runs in 48 overs.
Davis and Hyam set about the total in attacking mode adding 30 for the first wicket as Hyam was stumped for 17. Churchill was out LBW and Collard and Davis went about rebuilding in an attacking manner adding 38 for the next wicket before they were both out in the space of 3 balls. Mel Hussain and James Redwood added the required 50 for no further loss as Park eased to their total by tea and with 40 overs to spare. Hussain finishing on 23 and James Redwood a fine 22.
