Match report Park travelled to nearby Brentwood for this National Cup 1st round match with an incredibly young side. 7 players were U-19 with the oldest being myself at a rather ancient 26!!

We got off to a great start winning the toss and electing to Bat! Had i lost then a best of 3 call was to be suggested!

Park put up a decent batting display after a few early wickets on a seaming track against a fairly useful bowling attack. Collier (67) and Mckie (56*) put on a 102 for the 4th wicket and Park posted 175-6 in 45 overs. A decent score in view of the side and to the surprise of some of the locals who expected an early finish.

Park soon took to the field where 16 year old Mueez Qureshi proceeded to bowl a great spell upfront beating the bat a number of times. Figures of 6-2-10-0 was an excellent return against a formidable Brentwood batting lineup on debut. Sam Hewitt struck first getting West caught behind by Brett and Chris Mckie bowled Walford with an unplayable delivery. At 91-2 Park smelt blood, but it wasn't to be. James Redwood (58*) and Dave Hammond guided Brentwood home to a comfortable 8 wicket victory with little over 14 overs to spare.

Aaron Hughes takes an early season lead in the 'Air Miles' league.
