BRENTWOOD v Gidea Park & Romford Cricket Club Saturday 3rd XI on Sat 02 Jun 2012 at 1PM
Match was Drawn
Match report
A good game of cricket with both sides pushing for a win going into the last 5 overs at the old county ground.
Park lost the toss and were put in by Brentwood. Alaracu fell caught at gully, before Guglani and Rogers moved the scoreboard past 50 with little trouble. Rogers played across a straight with a leading edge caught in the covers. Guglani and next man Henry were both cleaned bowled and park found themselves in a little trouble at 113-4 after 28 overs.
Craig Bray and Shyamal Vyas steadied the ship for several over and then begun to push on finding the boundary rope regularly, most notably 2 big sixes from Vyas. When Vyas fell for 69 with Bray 60 n/o, Park declared on a competitive total of 257-5.
Parks opening bowlers struggled to find a consistant line and length on a wearing pitch, and Brentwood quickly cashed in. At drinks Brentwood required a further 147 for victory but with all 10 wickets in hand the game was in the balance.
George Rogers stemmed the run flow and picked up 2 key wickets. Wickets begun to fell but Brentwood kept up with the run rate as skipper Andy Taker neared a century, helped by the fact Park had dropped him 4 times.
Vyas came on the for a second spell and bowled much better and finished with 3 wickets.
In the end the game finished in a Draw with Brentwood's Andy Taker unbeaten on a 100.
Parks fielding really let them down with 6 drops in total. A draw in the end a fair result for both sides.
