Match report Having at last won the toss Ilford were asked to bat on a good run scoring wicket. Montgomery struck early removing V.Chopra caught at square leg by Collard. Davey then removed Khan caught behind by Hyam for 22. M.Diwan 84 and G.Kendola 91 not out then set about building a steady partnership of 145 in 55 overs.Collard removed Diwan after lunch stumped by Hyam . Collard and Churchill bowled 42 overs and some fine concentration in the field saw runs limited. Collard finishing with 3-55 and luckless Churchill toiled away for 25 overs and not getting a wicket, but his control was superb. Ilford closed on 236-6 from their 66 overs.
Park soon lost Anand for 2 before Hyam and Davey added 29 before Davey was bowled by a pea roller from Pakistan under 19 Fayyaz. Hussain 45 and Hyam added 113 before Hussian was well caught behind for a fine 45 attempting to increase the run rate.Hyam solid as ever and finding partnerships in all , slowly increased the tempo. Monty was sent in and produced a rapid 15 Churchill was next to go for 16 as the rate ever increased. Hyam was finally out just short of a deserved ton caught on the line for 95.Collard and Batch added 22 in 3 overs but it was down to the last over needing 7 to win. Some hurried single and the odd 2 left 2 to win from the last ball. A late cut (swish) to 3rd man from Collard saw Redwood and himself scammper the required runs for the first win of the season.
