Wanstead v Gidea Park & Romford Cricket Club Saturday 2nd XI on Sat 08 Jun 2002 at 1.30
Gidea Park & Romford Cricket Club Won 35 Runs

Match report Park were put in by Wanstead, Darren Batch returning from the 1st team opened with Jeff Thomas, who went cheaply for 5 . DA joined Darren & both batted well, DA eventually being out for 53. Patient joined Dazza in another partnership before Dazza holed out to mid-on. Patient & Collier struggled a little to get the ball away. Collier went for only 9 & Patient was joined by Satsangi. From looking like getting 250 Park were held back to only 231 in their full 52 overs.

Park took to the field using the old ball, a shrewd decision by skipper Allen. Veteran seamer Winmil & young spinner Phil Goldstone opened up. Winmill bowling a top quality opening spell. The loss of Paul Windebank through injury was a blow to Park, this occurred when he dived chasing a ball to the boundary.

Wanstead supplied a fielder as Park worked hard to weedle the Wanstead batsmen out. This Park managed even though they dropped several chances. Darren Batch finishing up with 5 wickets & Winmill with 4.
