Match report Ben Montgomery proved you do not have to be an overseas bowler to do well and take wickets in the Essex Premier League.Ben produced fantastic figures of 7-20 from 15 overs with fine line and length bowling on a wicket which was reasonably unhelpful.Montys victims being 3 bowled 2 LBW and 2 catches behind just to prove the line he bowled.Parks other bowlers showed the required discipline Andy Churchill(18 overs for 35) making a comeback as new ball left arm over seamer in the absence of Dreyer injured and Clarke injured(both who will be back for next weekend) and Hussain and Sweeney producing consistantly tight spin.The batting at times from Shenfield was kamakazi but Park took the chances when they came and finall bowled out Shenfield for 138 in the 64 th over with only Matt Humphreys showing any dedication for a valiant 70 being the last man out .
Hussain and Sweeney set about the total in cautious manner and with the wicket getting slower and lower runs were hard to come by with tight bowling from Moore but the bad balls were put away and the score progressed steadily.Hussain was first to go and Andy Churchill showed a class act of maturity and patience and steadily with Sweeney the bad balls came and were dispatched.Sweeney went for a patient 16 and Phil Ayres returning showed what he is more than capable of with a fine 36 not out to see Park home comfortably in the end.Churchills 53 was in a partnership of 73 with Ayres and broke the back of any resistance offered by Shenfield.
