Gidea Park & Romford Cricket Club Lost by 9 wickets

Match report Peter Coe Cup.....

GP&RCC: 116 all out
High Roding CC: 119 for 1

High Roding CC won by 9 wickets.

Have you ever seen the film 'Groundhog Day' starring Bill Murray and Andie MacDowell? No, well, it's about a TV weatherman who is doomed to repeat the same day over and over again. Unfortunately, this is what Peter Coe Cup Sunday's have become for the manager this season, as we continue to pitch up, warm up, have a morale boosting team talk and then we get thumped, absolutely thumped, over and over again!

The excuse of our team of largely year 7 players being a year younger than most of the other sides is starting to wear a bit thin now as the margin of our 6 defeats (from 6 starts) cannot be accounted for by age alone. In truth we are paying the penalty for players underperforming, for players making the same mistakes week in and week out, for players not playing to their full potential.

Still, the film has a happy ending, so perhaps this week in our final cup appearance of the season the players will focus, will apply themselves, will play it like they mean it, will play to something approaching their full potential and will give someone a decent game. We can but hope.......
