Upminster 'B' v Gidea Park & Romford Cricket Club Under 13's on Sun 29 May 2011 at 09:30
Gidea Park & Romford Cricket Club Won by 7 wickets
Match report
Havering league
Upminster ‘B’ - 81 for 8
GP&R CC - 82 for 3
GP&R CC win by 7 wickets
Further signs of improvement in a convincing win.
Upminster’s batting never looked comfortable against some excellent Park bowling on a lively astro-turf pitch at Gaynes School and limped along to 81 for 8 after 20 overs with no-one having made double figures. Most of the bowlers bowled well with Tommy, Harry and Kudiwa standing out and all taking 2 wickets. Again most of the chances were held (George take those Teflon sunglasses back!) with Joel taking a great diving catch at deep square.
In reply, with the opposition keeping the scoreboard ticking over with a series of wides the Park batsmen just had to hang in there for the game to be theirs and openers Joel (11 no) and David (13) did just that as Park ran out comfortable winners by 7 wickets. Joel’s batting was particularly limpet like; especially when you consider the loud blows he took to the helmet and box!
So a convincing win in a game that we had ‘bossed’ from the outset. The competition for places is great as we are now able to field a team with no passengers, everyone is focused and determined to do well and it’s really starting to come together.
2 local derbies next week with away league games vs. Hornchurch and Harold Wood.
