Woodford Wells ‘B’ - 101 for 9
Woodford Wells ‘B’ won by 1 wicket
A much improved performance in the field and a nail biter of a finish.
Park batted first this week and fielded a number of squad players so the batting order had a fresh look to it. Unfortunately, the top order batting was blown away with the 1st player to make double figures being Harry Rogers coming in at number 8. Harry (19) and Noah Kennedy (16) brought some much needed respectability to the score and with the tail wagging Park finished on 98-9 at the end of their 22 overs.
In reply Wells’ opener Ben looked a class apart and rapidly moved to 25 before retiring. However the rest of the Wells batting was struggling against an improved Park attack and with Kudiwa taking 2 wickets on debut and Harry backing up his runs with 2 wickets Wells were in trouble. For the first time this year the bowlers were backed by some good fielding with David Goff and Noah taking excellent catches. In a tense finish Wells’ opener Ben was able to return at the end of the innings and he just managed to see the Wells home to win by 1 wicket.
All in all a great game and a much improved performance from Park, particularly in the field. With competition for places really hotting up we are starting to look like a real cricket team. Bring on Upminster ‘B’ next week!
