South Woodford v Gidea Park & Romford Cricket Club Saturday 1st XI on Sat 25 May 2002 at 11.30
Gidea Park & Romford Cricket Club Won By 64 runs
Match report
On a slow low wicket Park found it hard to score runs and accumulated off what bad balls there were on offer.Wickets feel to Janjua on a regular basis and were reduced to 48-5 before Collard 18 and Andy Clark a solid and potentially match winning 37 gad a partnership of42. The added 25 extras were helpful but as long as we could bowl straight we knew we had a good chance.
Jan Dreyer produced class bowling with proper yorkers at pace and soon South Woodford were reduced to 39-7 at tea.Dreyer completed his first 5 wicket haul for Park and his first in the UK since venturing here for 3 years just before tea.Collards 4-22 and Dreyers 1 wicket straight after tea saw Park chalk up their first win of the season in emphatic style. A determined and professional approach bought a much needed victory after the poor performance of last Sunday, and at last approaching near where we left off last season.
