CHELMSFORD v Gidea Park & Romford Cricket Club Saturday 3rd XI on Sat 04 Jun 2011 at 1PM
Gidea Park & Romford Cricket Club Won by 6 wickets
Match report
Strong all-round team performance saw Park pick up a much needed win away at Chelmer Park.
Hughes and Pegram bowled very well early on without much luck. Hughes inparticular showed his best form so far this season and took the first wicket with a catch to Mukund Rajan in the gully.
Chelmsford consolidated well and began to up the run rate before drinks. Michael Ryder came into the attack and applied the breaks with some good quality and controlled off-spin. He finished with well deserved figures of 2-47 from his 10 overs.
Opposition skipper Barry Clayden declared on 247-4 with the game evenly poised.
Park tried a new opening partnership in Wayne Henry and Craig Bray... with the aim of building a platform to win the game. This worked well with 116 runs compiled in 24 overs before the dominant partner Henry departed for 66. At drinks Park were 158-2, before Bray was stumped for 55 in the 3rd over of the last 20.
Sam Hewitt was run out in the pursuit of quick runs before Ankit Gugulani (55*) and Terike Mitchell (21*) saw the side home with 3 overs to spare.
Great win but it's important we find this consistency more often... starting next week.
